WEDNESDAY HALF-HOLIDAY.

RETAINED IN HOROWHENUA COUNTY. Gimblett said that, as a farmer, he was rather in favour of Wednesday. To declare a 'Saturday Half-holiday in the country would be to inflict a hardship. The Chairman: They will not do that.

Cr. Gimtllett: I tli'ink. the poAvers that be are doing quite a lot that is not acceptable to the fanners. I Avould like the" Council to pass a resolution that, for the ensuing year, Wednesday be the half-holiday "in Ilie County. The Chairman: It is not necessary. We have already expressed our opinion and da not wish to alter it. Cr. Gimblett: They would say we don’t care.
