SCHOOL SPORTS.
TO-MORROW —SATURDAY. At last night’s meeting of the School Committee final . arrangements were made for holding the school sports in the Domain to-morrow. Eyeryithing points to a good day’s sport and as the effort is to raise funds for the installation- of a septic tank at the school it is hoped all who can will make an effort to attend. A varied programme has been drawn up, catering for children of all ages. A feature of the sports will be the competitions for the five silver cups donated by the Herbert Smith Trust, each of which will be won outright. These are being awarded to the winners of the handicap events for boys under 15 years and 10 years and to girls under 15 years and" 10 years and to'the winner of the cycle race. These events are sure to be a big attraction. Apart from these races there will be the usual flat races, cycling events, jumping, relay, obstacle events, a 3 well as others more amusing, such as bun eating, potato relay races, land boat race and thread needle. Refreshments, ice creams, sweets, etc.-, will be obtainable on the ground. As the prize list is a lengthy one the Committee will be pleased to receive donations for this purpose. To mec, the convenience of farmers and others living a distance away the sports will commence at one o’clock sharp.
