FOR FLOWERS.
Bowls and troughs made of wood and painted in vivid colours —orange, red, green and blue—are very useful for hyacinths. Jonquils and narcissi look lovely in black bowls, while green is the best setting for daffodils. Beautiful and uncommon pottery can often be picked up and shallow bowls and quaintly coloured baisins. These look charming when filled with growing flowers, and will go well with the oak and chintz of a country cottage.
All the bulbs can be grown in fibre, and there are two very important points to remember when growing. The first is to keep the fibre always thoroughly moist, not wet, and the second to keep the bowls in the dark until growth is well established.
