BOWLING.
KINNEBURG FEATHERS. On Saturday a Shannon rinlc successfully defended a challenge from an Otaki rink for the Kinneburgh Feathers. The holders had’ a comfortable win by nine points. The green was in excellent order, but a westeily wind somewhat interfered with the. playing conditions. On the tenth head the score stood six all, but during the next five heads the challengers failed to score, while Shannon increased their load to 15. Otaki scored one on the 16tli and on the 19tli and 20 a two and a three, Shannon retaining the Irophy with a score of 21 points to 12. The rinks were as follows: —Shannon: 'O. Hook, 11. Jones, Whi'bley, Morgan (s). Otaki: Nicolson, Whyte, Noble and Murray (S) ' ' MANSON AND BARR CUP. A Shannon rink journed to Foxton to attempt- to bring back the Manson and Barr Cup. The wind made playing conditions bad, but an enjoyable afternoon was spent, though the local team failed. The green was in perfect order and very keen and a closely contested game resulted. On the 6th head, both rinks were six all, on the 11th, 11 all, on the 13tli, 13tli all, and the 18th, 20 all, Foxton ran up a lead of 4 on the 19th and a further 1 on the 20th. Shannon attempted to bag a handful on the last head, but only obtained one point. The final scoies were: Foxton 25, Shannon 21. The rinks were as follow: Foxton, Warwick (lead).
