TO CLEAN PICTURES
Framed pictures always need an overhaul after the winter months. The best way to clean glass-covered pictures is to first dust them thoroughly and then clean the glass with methylated spirits applied sparingly br p.'.cans of a large, soft cloth. * Gofi frames should be brushed with a soft brush io get rid of any dust'. To restore something of the original lustre to the frame, rub gently with a sou cloth moistened with vinegar and water, or with water to which lemon juice has been added. .Liquid gold, sparingly applied to the places from which the original gold is gone, is a great help in restoring picture frames. The success of the treatment lies in the least possible gold being used. Oil pointings can be wiped carefully with a succession of very soft cloths moistened with clean warm water. Use no soap, turpentine or mothvlaud spirits, and take time with the woik.
