NOTES ON SHANNON’S CLUB MATCH.

Although the iscoud against Wemr'oa \Va,s not large there was la. decided improvement in the batting. With plenty of practise the young Shannon players will develop into a fair . team. F. Picajid, with 13 ruiis, wias the top scorer in the first innings, and was unlucky to go out l.b.w. —a habit of liis T. Jude, with 12, kept walking out: to meet the hall, and consequently was stumped. He m'ade amends in the second innings, but wa's eventually caught off the fa'st bowler Bull, (after putting 22 on the score book —a good performance.

Shannon’s coach, V. Pope, after a spell off cricket, was not confident, but he is the right mian in the right place. D. Mercer, who piays a real good bat for la young player, will develop into a star batsman.

Rutherford, with practise, is liable to make a stain,d at any timle. D.' Ge'e, not out in the: second innings for 19, whs set when the laist wicket fell.

T. Roach pliays a good bat, atud Leiigihtdn, F. Brady amd Marsh Ilakarai'a will improve. Shannon players should take a. lesson from the Weraroa fielding. Quite a number of runs were given away through the players Waiting for the ball to come to them, instead of going to meet it.
