MISHAP TO CLIMBER.
YOUNG LADY’S ARM BROKEN. Miss Lindsay, of Ngaio, while scaling the Tararuas in the vicinity of Waitatapia (Otaki Gorge) on Saturday, had the misfortune to slip on a stone and fall, with the result that her arm was broken. Her companions rendered first aid in a masterly manner and dispatched a message for Dr. Milne who was quieHJy on the scene, accompanied by Mr. J. D. Cooksley, who had driven the party to The Forks. Dr. Milne examined the break and spoke very highly of the manner in which, first aid had been rendered, after which he ordered Miss Lindsay's re-
moval to the Otaki hospital, which was reached at 10 p.m. On the way down the Otaki and Waitatapia rivers had to be forded, and the stretcher-bearers had an unenviable time. When the suspension bridge was reached it was- found impossible to convey the stretcher across and this stream had also to be forded. Miss Lindsay boTe the journey splendidly, and on Monday was removed to her home where she is re ; ported to be making- good progress.
