MAORILAND PICTURES.

“THE LARIAT KID.” “The Lariat Kid," Hoot Gibson’s most thrilling Universal picture with, the romance of the old West for a background, has been secured by the Maoriland Theatre for Wednesday. The star is seen in that favourite role of a swashbuckling young caballer) who points himself against an entire gang of brigands. He fills the picture with the type of fast riding and fighting for which he is noted. “The Lariat Kid" is replete with romance. The dainty and charming Ann Christy appears opposite Hoot, as Mary Lou, a girl who is trying to escape a marriage with a rogue that her aunt is forcing upon her. The story concerns a young eowpuneher's fight against a band of cutthroats and his lone-handed battle to avenge the death of his father.

A BRITISH PICTURE. Coming to the local theatre shortly is the big C.A.F. release, “Tesha,".recently produced by British International Pictures at their Elstree Studios. The story concerns Tesha, a Russian ballet danseuse, who loves children and is torn between the eternal conflict or sacrificing her art for the joys of motherhood. The picture and its powerful theme has been delicately treated, and while, it may arouse controversy, it nevertheless;is a triumph for British screen craft. Maria Corda, as Tesha, and Jameson Thomas, as the husband, give remarkable interpretations in their respective parts. '' Robert Dobrce marries Tesha, a Russian ballet danseuse, who loves children.
