CLOVER AND BLOAT.

FARMER'S UNUSUAL COMPLAINT

A rather original complaint was voiced by Mr C. Jensen, of Te Horo, at the Farmers' Union.meeting in Palmerston North on Saturday. ,Sis grievance was that thousands of pounds were being spent on colleges and ' highly paid officials who advocated fertilising clover pastures and' yet gave no cure for cows which became bloated through over-eating the" extra feed. "The result is wo have clover inches high; Ave can't use it," aded' Mr Jensen. "I tell you it is a serious matter."

The president (Mr 0. P. Lynch,_ of Paraparaumu) replied that in feeding off clover, a farmer must use judgment. It was a man's own fault if he left his cows on too long. Mr Jensen: I didn't bring this up as a laughing matter but well thought out. You are told to sow clover and then top-dress it, with the result that you get this bloaf, i Other membars present agreed with the president that it was a farmer's own fault if he did not feed off clover with discretion.
