UNKNOWN NEW ZEALAND.
"PEOPLE WITH HORNS." An amusing slip of the tongue convulsed members of the House of Representatives yesterday during a speech by Mr Tuiti Makitan.ara, Government member for Southern Maori. The member was expressing disappointment at the smallness of the vote proposed for advertising New Zealand, and said that very little was known about the Dominion in the United Kingdom. "I was told by one of my friends who returned from the other world," Mr Makitanara said, but laughter drowned the. rest of his sentence. He explained, however, that he was referring to the Old World. His friend had intimated to a chance acquaintance that he was a New Zealander. The other replied: "Oh, I thought you had horns there." "That is the fault of the Government," added Mr Makitanara, amid further laughter.
