SHANNON AMATEUR ATHLETIC & CYCLING CLUB.
| —; .* ; ANNUAL MEETING. The above meeting was held in the Council Chambers last evening. The president (Mr R. Downes) presided over a small attendance of members. PRESIDENT'S REPORT. In presenting the annual report, the President (Mr R. B. Downes) referred to the great pleasure, it gave hiui to do so, but it was with regret he stated that the members' interest had decreased so far as Committee meetings were concerned,, although their assistance were always forthcoming on the days of the sports meetings. "The Club, which is an amateur body, has always endeavoured to foster the sport locally and I wonder if we have been successful in this respect. Absence of interest in the workings of the club by local competitors is very noticeable and surely it is up to those for whose benefit the club is run, to show more interest and give a little help other thaji just entering for the events. During the past year one athletic meeting was held which resulted in, a. debit balance of £l3 lis 2d. Despite this, however, we have £9O on fixed deposit with the Bank and £3 os,2d cash in hand. The £9O was placed on fixed deposit to be used for the permanent surfacing of the cycling track. The getting of the track in order for sports meetings has entailed a lot of time and hard work by members and voluntary helpers, which has been the means of saving the Club a considerable sum of money. If it is posible to do > something of a permanent, nature with the funds at our disposal I would suggest it be clone tins summer. The Club was unfortunate during the year in losing the services of Mr A T. White, who has left the district, and we thank him for his valuable services and-the keen interest he has at all times displayed in the club's welfare. To the officers of the Club, the hon. secretary, Mr T. Kohika, hon. treasurer, Mr H. V. Hudson, hon. auditor, Mr F. Thurston, the thanks of the Club are due for services gratuitously given, and in conclusion j. thank all members for their support and wish the Club every future sucBALANCE SHEET. The balance sheet submitted by the Treasurer showed that the Club commenced the past season with a creditbalance of £97 Is 10d, of which amount the sum of £9O was placed on fixed deposit. The year's working showed that although a 'loss of £l3 Us 2d was incurred over the recent sports meeting, the Club finished up their season with a credit balance of £3 12s Bd. ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

The Manawatu Sub-Centre wrote pointing out that as another Club had selected red and white, as their colours the Centre asked that the Club should choose another colour. —It was decided to apply for colours red and blue and if not available, green and white. A claim was received from Mr P. Bass for the sum of £3 3s for medical attention to his son as a result of injuries he received at the last sports meeting. The secretary was instructed to write, and inform Mr Bass that the matter was considered at the annual meeting, when it was decided to await legal advice and that a committee was set up to deal with the matter. A copy of a letter was received from the Manawatu Sub-Centre which was .forwarded to them by the Wellington Centre, in connection with the tour of the Canadian athletes, in which they desire to know if the Club thought the meeting should be run by a club or by the SubCentre. If by a club, what club would they favour.—The meeting was of opinion that the meeting should be conducted by the Sub-Centre and that the Shannon's Club's guarantee should not exceed £3. The question of'permanent surfacing the cycle track was discussed and a committee was set up to go into the matter.
