NEW FOOTBALL TROPHY.

SILVER CUP DONATED BY MR G. RAMSBOTIIAM. A notable acquisition to the treasures of football was .made last night, when the Horowlienua Rugby District Council received a large and handsome silver trophy from Mr Geo. Bamsbotham. of Levin. It is in the form of a lov-ing-cup, of very solid construction and artistic design, and takes the place oi tlie Levin Club Cup, won by Wanderers, for the senior championship gamer. The trophy was.brought to the meeting by Mr MeDonell, a well-known Wanderers’ senior player, who state., that Mr Ramsbothom had .asked hiu to present it on his behalf to the Coun eil, and would be only too pleased ii they would accept it. In receiving the cup, the Presides (Mr W.. C. Hannan) said it was ver. nice to have a gentleman supportiu. rhe game to such a generous extent a to donate a fine trophy like this. I. showed that there were still those ii the community who were prepared tkeep the conti oiling body well sun plied Avith trophies. The Council’-, thanks Avere due to Mr Bamsbotham for his very liberal gift. It Avas decided, on the motion of the chairman, seconded by rMr McGill (Otaki), to forward a letter'of appro ciation to the donor.

The meeting then resolved, on the motion of Mr Heves (Foxton), seconded by Mr Robinson (Foxton) that h sub-committee b(j .appointed, consisting of the chairman, Mr J. W. Procter (Ilui Mai), the secretary (Mr J. Casey) and the treasurer (Mr J. W. Rimmer), to dniAv up the conditions for the cup and to submit them to Mr Eamsbotham and the management committee; and that it be a recommendation that, to become the property of any club, the cup must be Avon three times in . succession or four times at intervals.
