SHANNON CROQUET CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The above meeting was held in Laurvig ’s Hall yesterday afternoon. The president (Mrs C. C. Franks) presiding over a good attendance of members. PRESIDENT’S REPORT.
The President (Mrs C. C. Franks) in her report stated that the past season had been a most successful one, both socially and financially. During the season the Club had played inter-club matches with Clubs in the Manawatu Centre and although they had not been able to send an A team, the Club’s B team had worthily upheld the Club’s reputation. The B grade club singles were won by Mrs R. Harding, the trophy for which was presented by Mr W. Snelling, of Mangaore; the C grade singles was Avon by Mrs Leng-Ward, this trophy being- presented by Mrs C. C. Franks; the breaks competition was wo(j by Mrs A. Mason, who Avins the Shannon Plunket Society’s trophy. During the early part of the season the Club lost the services of Mrs J. S. Spencer, who since the Club’s inception had carried out the secretarial duties. With a view to raising funds for the Club- a fortnightly progressive euchre tourney had been run which had been the means of placing the Club, on a good footing. In conclusion she thanked all those who had assisted in the interests of the Club and expressed the hope that the coming season Avould be a prosperous one. BALANCE SHEET.
The balance sheet submitted by the Secretary showed the finances to be in p healthy state, there-' being a credit balance of £l2 17s 4d. ELECTION OF OFFICERS.
The election of officers for the coming season rvas ‘as follows: —President, Mrs J. T. Bovis; vice-president, Mrs B. Brann; secretary and treasurer, Mrs W.i Snelling; general committee, Mesdarnes J. Roach, Pallant, Picard, Blaikie, Franks, Mason; sports committee, the four top bisque players; social committee to be the next four top playcrs« NEW MEMBERS. The folloAving neiv members were elected: Misses Baxter (2), Aim, Mesdames Edginton, A. Morgan; and V. Pope, honorary member, Mrs E. Butt. GENERAL. Trophies weVe donated by the Mayoress (Mrs E. Butt), Mrs C. Cronquest, Mrs Snelling and Mrs J. T. Bovis, who were accorded a hearty vote of'thanks. The meeting decided to return the compliment to the bowlers, who at their annual meeting resolved to allow members of the Croquet Club to become members, by granting the same privilege to them to become me’mbers of the Croquet /Club. The subscription for same being fixed at half rate. Votes of thanks ivere accorded to the retiring president (Mrs C. C. Franks) and secretary (Mrs A. Mason) for the splendid work they had done on behalf of the Club, to Mr B. Brann for auditing the books, to the greenkeeper, Mr H. Knowles;, and all others who had helped to make the club a success.
