WEDDING.
CARMAN—ASTRIDGE. In the presence of a large gathering of friends, the marriage took place at the Methodist. Church, Levin, last Wednesday pf Mr Walter Phillip Carman, the second son of Mr and Mrs W. Carman, of Johnsonville, to Miss Marjorie Astridge, only daughter of Mr and Mrs A. C. Astridge, of Levin. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, was. dressed in a grey travelling costume with hat and shoes" to match. Miss Phyllis Wilton, a niece of the bride, was bridesmaid. She was attired in blue repp, trimmed with pink, and wore a pink hat. The bouquets carried by the bride and bridesmaid were made and presented by Mrs E. Prouse of Weraroa. The bride was given away by Her. father and Mr Arthur Carman, brother of the bridegroom, carried out the duties of best man. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. Wm. Beckett, and Mrs T. F. Gibson officiated at the organ.
A reception was held at the Wistaria tea-rooms, the bride’s parents receiving the guests. The Rev. Wm. Beckett, who presided, proposed the health of the bride and bridegroom in a very nice speech. The bridegroom responded, and then proposed the health of the Bridesmaid, the best man replying. The. health of the bride’s parents was proposed, by Mr T. F, Gibson and responded to by Mr Astridge. Mr E. Howe, senr., of Wellington, was responsible for the toast of the bridegroom’s parents, and the acknowledgment was made in a very happy speech by Mr Carman, senr. Miss Lill was xe-
ques(ed to say a few words as representative of the Levin Methodist Bible class, and she madb a neat little speech wishing the young couple health and happiness in their new life. Mr E. Howe, junr., was invited to speak on behalf of the Wellington Bible Class Association, to which . the bridegroom belongs. He did so in a very nice speech and wished the young couple the best of health in their new sphere of life. The gift of the bride to the bridegroom was a pair of gold sleeve links. The bridegroom presented the bride with a leather handbag and also made a suitable gift to the bridesmaid. The happy couple left for the south by motor car to spend thpir honeymoon, carrying with them the best wishes of a liarge number of the friends who saw them off.
