PARISH HALL CONCERT.

The concert held' in the Maoriland Theatre on Tuesday evening in aid of the Parish Hall alteration fund did not receive the public support that it was worthy of, this no doubt being due to the large number of entertainments held of late. . However, those Avho did attend had the pleasure of enjoying a first-class concert programme, evidenceof their appreciation being shown by the demand for encores. Messrs Saxby, Milnor and Cole scored a great success 'Avith their local hits and also Avith a monologue; Mr Smith (Foxton) was Avell received Avith his comic songsj. while the vocal items by Mrs S. Barbe,r Miss S. Quarrie and Mr Couch (Foxton) Avcre very nicely rendered; also a pianoforte duet by Misses J. Thomson and M. Ingley. The second half of the programme" avj>s taken up by a comedy sketch *entitled "Matilda's Matrimonial Muddle," or "The Koav', ' in Avhich the performers gave a very cleA-er portrayal of the story, which covered every phase of modern life from a lover's quarrel to a devastating duel. Although the sketch was rather draAvn out, the concert as a Avhole, was very enjoyable and the organiser, Mr L. Milner, is to be complimented on the excellent fare he provided. '
