FIRE LAST NIGHT.
HOUSE AND CONTENTS TOTAL DESTROYED.
Shortly before ten o'clock last- ni an alarm of lire was given, the < break being at Mr A. BirchaU's f s rodmed residence, Stansell Street, N town. At' the time Mr and Mrs Bircj were visiting friends nearby and i first they knew of the fire was wl the bell rang. Mr Bkchall states t left the house about 8.30 p.m., w everything then appeared to be Si They had a fire in the grate early the evening, but made it safe bei leaving. He cannot account fcr cause.
The family aie heavy losers, the'o things saved being those they st up in. The house was insured for<£ in the New Zealand office, thj was a.cover for £l5O on the conte in the Guardian, oflice.
