MAORILAND THEATRE.
“THE BUTTER AND EGG MAN.”
The show business! A glamorous, colorful world apart from every other. A world with its own codes, econom 'ies; irresponsible and gay, lavish and fickle. And the heart of this world ‘is the theatre. It even has its own language, this woild of the show business, and one of its dialects is that of the theatre. From that language came the title of the famous stage play, “The Butter and Egg Man,” ■and First National’s film version of r, i-s coming to the Maoriland Theatre on Saturday.
‘‘LADY RAFFLES.” A ,clever girl of mystery, who brings two society thieves to justice, is the tale told by “Lady Raffles,” the IColumbia-Master Picture on the screen (at the Maoriland Theatre on Monday. -The cast is headed by Estelle Taylor. The action is swift, resorting to strategy and clever ruses, which offer -strong audience appeal. A pretty love interest is interwoven in the plot, with here and there p. touch of pathos to heighten the dramatic effect. There are moments of breathless suspense as Lady Raffles makes daring escapes and turns up again in the most unexpected places. In many instances the picture reminds one of a sleight-of-hand performance, so cleverly is the disappearance and reappearance worked.
