POWER BOARD'S RESERVES.
QUESTION OF MORE PERMANENT INVESTMENT.
"With regard to the, Board's in'said -the secretary (Mr P. W. Goldsmith), at the annual meeting of the Horowhenua Power. Board, "I have been accustomed, when I have a thousand pounds or so to invest, to put it on fixed deposit. I don't get more than about 3f or 4 per cent, at the most. If the Board think we should make a more permanent investment, would they give the Finance Committee authority to act in that matter?! think we could do so profitably to the extent of two or three thousand, and perhaps buy some more debentures." The Chairman (Mr G. A. Monk) said ho would not like the Finance Committee to have full authority till the matter was brought back to the Board. The Finance Committee had better go into the whole position of the reserves and find out what money could be semipermanently invested.
