ARCHBISHOP REDWOOD.
NINETY ON MONDAY. Reference to the great work doii' by his Archbishop Redwood ra made at the reception to the Verj Rev. Father Rieu, Superior-General oJ the Society of St. Mary, at St. Pat pick's College, Wellington, on Fridaj night, the Archbishop himself being present. ."We have with us, happily," saic the rector (the Very Rev. Father Ry an, S.M., M.A.), one of the first pu pils of the first school of Father Garin .of Nelson; one who answered the call to be the first priest from the new land; one who sailed away on a great quest while still a boy, and came back to the land years after when a priest, a teacher, and a bishop of his adopted land; one who never forgot the value of that firs" secondary school in old Nelson, and when occasion offered in the 'eighties founded this college of St. Patrick's; one who will leach his .ninety-first year on Monday next, and Vhose life is, as it were, a summary of all our history—religious and civil —his Grace the Archbishop." The Prime Minister (the Right Hon. Sir Joseph Ward) also spoke cf his Grace. "It is almost impossible for u,s young fellows," tfie said amildst laughter, "to recognise that his Grace is to be ninety on , Monday. I hope we shall all be here to congratulate him when he has attained the very distinguished age of one hundred. (Applause). His is a wonderful record, arid may I, on behalf of all, wish him many very happy returns of the day." -(Renewed applause).
