DOMINION’S PRIMARY PRODUCTS.

New Zealand prosperity and the happiness of its people depends to a great extent on the wealth of jits primary products. Owing to the nature of, the country and the climatic conditions, New Zealand is peculiarly adapted-fo the production of butter and cheese. This source of the Dominion’s wealth has materially increased during the last 20 years and now New Zealand is among the foremost of the countries in the world supplying a high grade article to the European markets. It is during this period that machinery which is responsible tc some extent for the improved article has been improved upon and perfected. This, combined with improved shipping facilities, has done a great deal towards putting New Zealand on the map. The Manawatu A. and P. Association has for 27 years and more been associated with the advance of the dairy industry. Perhaps the greatest step forward was made by the Association in 1903 when the first National Dairy Show was staged, for since then the Association has been connected with every move in the game and has done a very great deal in improving marketing conditions and the quality of the article. The Association has had the advice of the best dairy experts in the Dominion with the result that they have earned the gratitude of the New Zealand public individually and as a whole. At the National Dairy Show each year there is on exhibition what might be termed the finest display of butter and cheese to be found anywhere in the Southern Hemisphere, and would hold its own with moist in Europe. This is only one feature of the exhibition. Practically every class of machinery associated with the dairying industry is on exhibition. In addition tc this there is the display of. home industries, farm products, and fat stoek, while in a huge hall-apart is the annual exhibition of the Manawatu Poultry Association, an exhibition which is second to none_ m the Dominion. At all times qf the day and evening there is available some form of, amusement to suit the most fastidious taste. The Show opens on the 18th June at noon and will close finally at 10 p.m. on Saturday, 22nd. Schedules are now available and obtainable from the secretary, P.O. Box 85, Palmerston North. Entries for the National Dairy Show close on 4th June. *
