“HOOFBEATS of vengeance.”

Rex, the King of Wild Horses, will be a seen at the Shannon Theatre on Wednesday in “Hoofbeats of Vengeance,” a Universal picture. The story concerns the love of a wild stallion for two people who befriend him in the hour of need. Ilis method of re-paying them is thrilling. The heroic figure of Rex stands out ,in bold relief against the villainies of A 1 Ferguson. The thrills, adventure and rides afford an evening full of exciting entertainment. Rex is supported by a well picked, cast including Jack Perrin, Helen Foster. A 1 Ferguson, and Starlight and Markee, two trained horses, all of whom are ideal for this dramatic tale.

“THE BLUE DANUBE.” On Friday the picture version of that delightful waltz romance, “.The Blue Danube,” will be screened. Its naive simplicity and wholesomeness of theme comes like a breath of fresh air into the heated atmosphere of sex films and murder dramas. Frederick Zelnick, the producer, has admirably caught the spirit of lighthearted gaiety associated with pre-war Vienna; throughout the film there abounds a spirit of entrancing happiness. The story —‘told in leisurely and unhurried manner —is a simple tale of the love affairs of a count and a cabaret girl, and Lya Mara, in the role of Mizzi, certainly proves that she is an actress of no mean ability. The supporting case is also excellent, special praise being due to Ernest Veredes, as the flirtatious young lieutenant, and to Harry Liedtke as the Count. Based upon the world famous waltz by Johann Strauss, the picture is indeed one which the great composer might well be proud. It admirably conveys the spirit of love,- life, and laughter, which 'the master violinist helped to create.
