MOTOR CAR OVERTURNS.
TWO CHILDREN INJURED. ■A serious accident occurred at Makerua on Wednesday afternoon when through the overturning of a motor car two of Mr "and Mrs R. Coley's children, aged two years, and five years, weie seriously injured. Mr Coley accompanied by his wife and four children, Ayere journeying in a Ford car from Palmerston North to their home, and when approaching the cutting near 1 Mr Dalzell's, the car skidded in the loose metal, causing it to. run up the bank and capsize backwards. All the occupants, with the exception of the little five-year-old girl, were able to get clear, but the latter was pinned underneath, the door of the car resting across her shoulders. Mr Coley, being unable to release the child by himself, called for help, and Mr T. Dalzeli, who happened to be handy, came to his assistance;. On the child being released she was found to be unconscious and seriously injured about the head. Along with the baby, who had received a severe cut on the leg, she was immediately conveyed to the Palmerston N. hospital. On enquiry we learn that the little girl regained consciousness that evening, but until an X-ray examination is made the extent of her injuries will not be known. It was necessary to insert seven stitches in the cut on the baby's leg. The car suffered badly, the hood, radiator and an axle being broken.
