MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.
MR E. BUTT UNOPPOSED FOR SHANNON MAYORALTY.
TEN CANDIDATES FOR THE
COUNCIL
Nominations closed at noon on Wednesday for the Shannon Mayoralty and eight seats on th,e Borough Council, also for a representative on the Horowhenua Electric Power Board. The sitting Mayor (Mr E. Butt) was reelected unopposed and Mr A. E. Hyde's nomination for representative :>n the 1 Power Board was the only one received. He has, therefora been duly electecj. Ten nominations were received f*r the eight seats on the Council, of whom six are .members of the present Council—Crs. T. C. Thwaites, R, Downes, A. E. Hyde, Jas. Curran, sen., Jas. Curran, jun., and R. Hook'. Crs. W. H. Gunning and E. J. S. Spencer do not seek re-election. Of the others nominated Mr 11. Hook is the only one who has sat on tire Council, he-having been returned at a bi-election. The new comers are Messrs S. Anderson, D. Laurvig and C. P. Grey.
