GOLF.
The Shannon Golf Club opened the 1929 season or. Saturday under very humid and trying conditions. There w r as a large attendance of members and everyone appeared to be well pleased with the. prospects for a successful season. The President (Mr A. Blackwood) in declaring the season open, said, the links would, when completed, he the best in the history of the Shannon Golf Club. A certain amount of work was yet to be done which would be completed during the week, and in about a. fortnight’s .time the links should be m splendid condition. During the afternoon a Canadian Foursome was played and resulted in a win for Mrs T. Moynihan aud Mr. W. li. McKenzie. A very dainty afternoon tea was enjoyed by all.
