“THE PLAY GIRL.’* Madge Bellamy, Fox Films ous little star, gives the best performance of her eareer in ‘ 1 The Play Girl, ’ which will be shown at the Alaoriland Theatre on Saturday. ' (Miss Bellamy is unquestionably one: of the screen’s greatest comediennes/ for her performance in “The Play Girl” convulsed last night’s audience/ The story, an original by John Stone, _ deals with the adventures of a young l ' shop girl who decides that clerking at-& £ls a- week is no vocation for a young, lady with her beauty and brains. However, .Madge discovers that her happiness is ivith the former, and after a series of escapades convinces him that she is willing to honour and obey.' “LIFE’S CIRCUS.” J A show within a show, is the best' way tp describe “Life’s Circus,” the First National special attraction to be screened at the Maoriland Theatre on i Easter Monday Night. Here is a story . of circus life with all its accompanying ; thrills and breath-ta'king moments of suspense, and through which runs a most entertaining story of the love of ;
two circus performers. As a fitting cli- j max to a sensational performance there is the “Death Glide,” an act that holds the spectator spell-bound at its audacity and complete disregard of the - A laws of gravity. This is an act where a- girl strapped in a light err. - , is released from the top of the auditorium to ' slide and lightning speed down a steep slipway. At the bottom is a curve . upwards and the ear is burled through J ihe air, turning over twice ,5n its flight and lands right side up on a staging in J the centre of the ring. It is this act U), round which the graphic story is woven and as has -been said before it is a > stoiy of .exceptional merit and entertaining qualities.
“Life’s Circus” has an all-star cast and was produced in Europe by First National Pictures.
