A.J.C. SIRES PRODUCE STAKES
VALUE OF RUNNERS ENGAGED. HONOUR TOPS THE LIST. The a Australian Jockey Club’s autumn fixture will open at Randwiek On Saturday and the principal event set down for decision on the first day of the meeting is the A.J.C. Sires’ Produce Stakes of 5000 sovs. added. It is air event for two-year-olds, the produce of sires nominated, to -. be , run over seven furlongs. Commenting on the total value of the horses nominated the "Sydney Sun” says: The field eligible for the A:J.C. Sires’ Producc Stakes—the first acceptances, have ’ already been declared —is worth the - best part of £30,000. Various of the two-year-olds still (standing their ground cost well over £IOOO when they » were sent into the sale ring early last "-year. Of these Honour, the New Zealand champion, heads the list. He was knocked down at 2300 gns. - Apart from the horses who were sold «dast year, there are various 'Sires’ y Produce Stakes candidates who were talt with privately, and their value no mean amount. Among these is si' 1 r '''
Spanish Galleon, winner of the V.R.C Ascot Vale Stakes.
Those two-year-olds engaged in the stakes which were sold as yearlings, have in various instances, increased in value. For instance, Honour, who cost 2300 guineas, is hardly likely to soil next month for a sum within cooee of that amount. And if the son of Limond should Svin the A.JjC. Sires’ Produce Stakes, his value will go up accordingly.' Carradale, who scored at Flemiiigton last week, is so highly thought of that if the V.R.C. chairman, Mr /L. K. S. McKinnon, decided to sell him he would not accept double that amount.
Mr Robert Walder is another owner who \ contends that ho has secured cheap propositions in Penthcus and Century Tire, who cost, in the aggregate, over 2000 guineas. Mr Walder would not take 5000 guineas for the pair. Mr Frank ISpunvay has been offered something like 1500 guineas for Regie d’Or. The later cost him only 375 guineas. Yearlings like Cabaret Girl, Malvina, Firboig, Roc and others, which -were bred by their owners, would not change hands for anything under four figure amounts. Although the field will be thinned out the next few weeks, at the present time the value set upon those eligible for that race probably exceeds £30,000. Those youngsters who were sold as yearlings, together with their values, are as follows: — . Gns. Honour (Limond —Homage) .. 2300 Carradale (Caravel—Vicella) .. 2000 Gallant Top (Top Gallant —Tandale) •• •• 13 -50 Laurel Crown (Valais— Three • Cheers) 120 Q Century Tire (Rossendale — Scintilla) •• 1200 Pentheus \(Rossendale —Cereica) . 950 Royal Top (Top Gallant —Bonnie Eve) 725 North Star (Great Star—Martian Princess) p 75 Magwell (Magpie —Carilla) .... 000 Peacemaker (Limond —Makepeace) 000 Phantom Reef (Psychology—
