LEVIN CLUB'S DOUBLES TOURN

AMENT.

; The courts of the Levin Tennis Club presented a gay appearance on Saturday afternoon, when a doubles tournament was held by the Club, in aid of the Women's Rest funds. Entries came in freely,- and there was a good attendance of the public, with the result that a very enjoyable afternoon was passed. Sixty players took part in the combined' doubles, 32 in the ladies' doubles, and 38 in the men's doubles. Besides the Levin Club, the Poxton, Ohau, Manakau, and Wesley Clubs were represented, and players of merit were present from the. Wellington schools camp at the Central Development Parm. As an additional attraction an Aunt Sally competition was held, the lady's prize being- won by Mrs Ball (Poxton) and the gentle man's prize by Mr Watkins (Wesley). A tasty afternoon tea was served by the ladies of the club. Owing to the large number of entries, short games of 6 up were played. In the case of the combined doubles it was not possible to finish in the lime available, the stage reached being three seta completed out of eight in the second round. The ladies' doubles were won by Miss Neumann and Mrs Forster, of the schools camp, who made a good showing all through and in the final defeated Mrs McLeavey • and Miss Blenkhorn, of the Levin Club, 6—5. En the men's doubles Heremaia and V. Wehipeihana, of Ohau, were-also responsible for a consistent performance, and they won the final against Thompson and Todd, of Levin, B—6.8 —6.
