MAORILAND THEATRE.

“THE GATEWAY OF THE MOON"

A:n absorbing story, tropical backgrounds of the jungle, a splendid cast, line direction and one of the most beautiful stars before the camera all go to make “The Gateway! of 'the Moon” one of the best pictures seen this season. This latest Fox Films feature has its first screening at the Maoriland Theatre on Saturday. It has Dolores Del Rio in the star role of Toni, a child of nature of the Amazon country. Walter Pidgcon .plays opposite her in the part of the young engineer whom she loves and hates with equal intensity by turns, while Leslie Fenton, Ted McNamara and Anders Randolf are cast in the other roles of importance. The story itself deals with the building of a„railvoad through the jungle and is a vivid and picturesque tale that held the premier audiences fascinated attention frupn beginning to end. There are many r beautiful shots of jungle life in this film, a great deal of heart interest and logical suspense. The direction of John Griffith Wray is splendid and the picture as a whole an outstanding •pntertainpient that delighted the audience. “BURNING* DAYLIGHT,” “Burning Daylight,” the First National Picture for Mondays, is taken from Jack London’s famous novel of the same name, and after a manner epitomizes the life of the author himself. London, after a battling existence at sea and in the wfilds of Alaska, came back to civilization and tried to enjoy himself. So does the famous character, “Burning Daylight.,” in this story. Milton Sills is starred with Doris Kenyon, Arthur Stone and others in support.
