MOTH AEROPLANES.
FOUR MACHINES ARRIVE. Auckland, Jan. 9. F»ur of the eight Moth. aeroplanes ordered by the New Zealand Government fox training purposes have ar : rived fr.sm England and are being assembled at the Wigram aerodrome. Mr. J. S. Fletcher, M.P., received word from the Minister of Defence today that the aeroplanes will he ready for use at Wigram in a week and that Major Cowper, the instructor for the Auckland Aero Club, should proceed south to undergo an advanced instructor's course of training in the new machine*.
Members of the Aero Club Committee *tated that they had been informed that, pending the assembly of the other four a*rc|lc»es, one of those in readiness at Wigram would be earmarked for early despatch to Auckland where it would be placed at the disposal of the club. They expected that the machine would be flown up after Major Cowper had completed his courw. When interviewed by a deputation a fortnight ago, the Minister stated that it was tho department’s intention to retain four aeroplanes at Wigram for instructional purposes. The remaining four would be distributed evenly between the Auckland and Christchurch Aero Clubs. Auckland presumably will receive a second machine later on in the month. The Auckland Aero Club has a hangar in readiness for fvvc machines, and 72 pupils are- awaiting an opportunity to commence training.
