OTAKI AND PHOENIX DRAW. WERAROA OBTAIN 3PT. WIN FROM PARAPARAUMU. The last! matches but one in the second round of the Hall Cup competition were played on Saturday, and as a result Weraroa and Otaki are leading for the championship, but the former club 'has an advtange in that at has only played seven matches, as against Otaki's eight. PHOENIX V. OTAKI. MACKENZIE MAKES A CENTURY Phoenix journeyed to Otaki on Saturday, when they met and played a drawn game with that elub. Otaki won the toss and sent their opponents in to bat. Auckram and Kirkcaldie opened but early disaster overtook the visitors, for the first wicket fell for one and the second for eight. Mackenzie and Hogan, who was sth ■wicket down, made a great stand, however, and -scored 112 for the partnership before Hogan was caught brilliantly by Garrity. Mackenzie continued batting and reached the splendid total of 105 before he was trapped by F. S. Simcox when the score stood at 173. The end came shortly afterwards, and 'the side returned to the pavilion with 177 to their credit. Otaki, who had .not expected such a determined stand, soon showed that •they were wel! worthy of their place on the ladder, for although they had only a fair start they made, with the aid of a resolute stand by F. S. Simcox and" S. Sievers, a total of 118 for .six and therefore played out time for ,a draw.
For Phoenix, Mackenzie 105, Hogan 42 and Warren 11 were the double-fi-gure scorers, while for Otaki those who passed the units were F. S. Sim icox 27, S. Sievers 20, A. Flutey 17, D. D'Ath 16, J. Bevan 14 not out, and J. Flutey 11.
Auckram was Phoenix's most successful bowler, as he took four Otaki wickets for 20, while Kirkcaldie and Warren took one wicket eaeh for 17 ■and 22 respectively. Sievers bowled well for Otaki, taking five for 48, while F. S. Simcox got two for 38. Following are the detailed scores: —

WERAROA V, PARAPARAUMU. FRANCE TAKES THREE WICKETS FOB NO RUNS. Paraparauinu baited first at Wcraroa on Saturday, compiling 34 for 10 men, as .they were one man short. Weraroa replied with 156 for two and declared. For Weraroa Hellamore played a sound innings for 77'not out, while Bull contributed 43 to the 1 score before he was bowled by E. Weggery. Bennett made 30 not out and France called his_ men in. Paraparaumu could only knock up ol for their second strike."
