SHANNON EGG CIRCLE.
DISCUSSION ON EXPORT OF EGOS
. That the Shannon Egg Circle is byno means dead was proved recently, when a big muster rolled up in response to a call to meet and discuss that important question of export of eggs. ■ • < .
Mr Roy Hook, who had been deputed to act as instructor, gave a very able demonstration of the class, of egg suitable for exportation, and incidentally, of those not fit to send out of the country, thus clearing up many hazy ideas'of the quality of eggs required. Many and various points arose for discussion, the chief one being cleanliness, the necessity of which was very strongly emphasised, as it transpires that the smallest speck of dirt or stain will disqualify the article for shipment. As the life of the industry at present largely depends on the number of eggs that can be exported it behoves all suppliers to maintain a high standard of cleanliness in connection with the marketing of their produce, net only with the consignments for shipment, but also any intended for the local market.
It might, be mentioned, inter alia that it is just over a year since the Circle was inaugurated and in that time it has grown from three members to twenty-nine. This speaks for itself quite loud enough to show that the spirit of co-operation is fast awakening in the minds of the wiser ones.
