BATTLE OF HOSES.
PRINCES SWELTER IN HEAT. (Sun Special.) LONDON, Sept. 24. A wireless message from the liner Malda, on which the Prince of Wale? and his brother, the Duke of Gloucester, are voyaging to East, Africa, says that, despite the sweltering heat, necessitating the vessel steaming in a circle to permit the following wind to sweep the decks, the Princes are resolutely exercising daily. Both joined 30 men and women passengers in a small canvas swimming pool, and were amongst the most active in a battle with hoses supplying the tank, also delightedly hosing a number of child bathers.
PRINCE GEORGE ABSENT WITHOUT LEAVE. ■< (Sun Special.) VANCOUVER; Sept, 25. The Los Angeles Times asserts thai while Prince George, the fourth son of. the Kiiig, was playing around Hollywood a;s "Lieut. Windsor,:'.' of tho Royal Navy,-and being entertained by gfcreendom's stars, his commanding officer aboard the cruiser Durban thought he was attending a house party in Montecito, a village in Santa Barbara (California). The newspaper tried to ascertain whether "Lieut. Windsor" would hi disciplined for the Hollywood trip by his commanding officer, but the Durban sailed without a reply being received. The Los Angeles party concluded with a big dinner at "Pickfair," the home of the Fairbanks, when Douglas Fairbanks performed stunts reserved even from the screen. His latest feat is alleged to be leaping through a glass -door so cleanly and at such a speed ! that he leaves a round hole like a bullet.
