GOODWIN IN THIS YEAR'S FINAL. ■; The-final match for the senior cham-' pionship of the Levin Golf Club was played during the week-end, in two rounds of IS holes each, between W. G. Clark (holder) and W. Goodwin, and the result was a win for the former by 5 up and 3 to play. In the morning "W.G." established a course rccord by- returning a 74 (all putts holed), leaving hint (5 up on the morning round. Play in the afternoon was more even, Goodwin, managing'.to' hold Clark by sinking some very long putts from the outside and the edge of the

greens. . W. G. Clark's club championship list-is-probably unique in the Dominion, for he has won the title 14 times in ;15 contests, his only defeat being in 1913, by C C. Higginson, now of Otaki. V

WIN FOR THE VISITORS,

A t?ara of Shannon golfers engaged members of the Levin club in single and four-ball matches on the Heatherlea Links on Saturday and were successful in both divisions. The singles resulted in six wins for the visitors and f o]ur for the home team, while one match was halved. ' In the four-ball, Shannon won three matches and Levin two. The weather v.*as favourable, and the course generally was in -good condition, but the greens were inclined 'to be heavy. A very creditable performance was put up by the local player W. Goodwin, who was in great form and disposed of 11. Blythe, the Manawatu open champion. " Mrs J. D. Brown kindly dis.pensed afternoon", tea, and. the outing was a very enjoyable one both for the \isiting team and' the local players.
