SHANNON CROQUET CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The Shannon Croquet Club members held their annual meeting in the Pavi- ' lion on Thursday when Mrs A. Mason presided over a fair attendance. The president's (Mrs Mason) report , was as follows.—" The past season was _ most successful both socially and financially. The Club had 19 playing members and seven non-players which must be considered a very fine mem' bership for a small country club. We must regret losing during the season ._, 'two of the pioneer members, Mesdames Watterston and McLachlan, both of whom had worked very hard for the club, and had done much towards making croquet so succeessful in Shannon; also two very keen players in Mesdames F. King'and Hunt. Every opportunity was taken by members to improve their play and the coming season should see even greater improvement in that there will be one almost - full sized green. The enlarging of the green has cost .the club £ls, but it was money well spent. ■- Competitions during the season were well contested and Mrs Harding holds the premier place at the top of the ladder, a position which she well deserves, as she lost no* opportunity to practise, and her example can well be followed by other members. Mrs Pranks won the 'breaks' competition for senior players and Mrs P. King for first year players. Mrs King also won the junior singles. The Nicholson Mallets were secured by Mesdames Franks and Mason and held for three successive games. The trophies were then handed on, in accordance with the rules, to Manakau. There was* keen competition throughout the season for the club prizes and challenge fees amounted to 225." BALANCE SHEET. The balance sheet submitted showed a credit balance of* £6 2s sd, which was considered a splendid financial position to start the new season with.
