OPERATIONS ON BOARDERS.

PARIS, August 31.

A sensation has been caused in Paris by grave charges of unnecessary operations on boarders of a Paris Boys' High School, which are made this morning by/'L'ami Du Peupley" the newspaper recently launched by M. Coty, the French millionaire Fascist - and scent manufacturer, who owns the "Gaulois" and "Figaro," an 4 who has flouted the entire French Press by or* ganising his own distributing service and selling his new publication for less . than half the price of other newspapers. "L'ami Du Peuple" asserts that in three months fourteen of the boarders were operated on for appendicitis at the expense of their parents and that in the next term seven more orN the boarders were diagnosed as suffering; > from appendicitis and were put on the operating list. The newspaper assertß that the aver- ■ age of appendicitis cases foj* the entire school of hundreds of boys, a.year previous to this was only three or four. . In one instance, says "L'ami DuPeu- ■ pie," a pupil who complained*of a headache was examined by the surgeon: attached to the school and she surgeon pronounced the case as appendicitis. When the seven boys were examined by other surgeons, says the newspaper, they were declared to be perfectly sound. The appendix removed from one boy, according -to the newspaper, was examined at an outside laboratory and found to be perfectly sound. -" The two surgeons officially attached to the school which is a Government institution, have resigned, but the. reason for resignation is-not yet diseldftr ed.
