PIGS IN LARGE SUPPLY.
The weekly stock sale at the Levin yards Tuesday was well attended, despite showery weather. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report having offered moderate entries of sheep and cattle and a heavy yarding of pigs.. Porkers, of which a large number came forward, were of good quality, and were keenly competed for at late rates. Stoic pigs were in over-supply, and showed a marked decline, of 4s to 6s all 1 round. Quotations are as under:-^-Skecp.—-Fat wethers £2 Is &d to £2 6s, hoggets 27s fid to 28s, ewes 24s Id, ewes in lamb 27s 6d. Cattle.—Fat cows £4 15s to £6 7s 6d, forward cows £3 Is, springing .heifers £7 12s ,6d to £9 ss, springing cows £8 10s. / Pigs. —Weaners Gs 6d to 11s, slips 12s to 20s, stores 16s to 22s 6d, porkers £2 to £2 15s. N.Z. LOAN & MERCANTILE AGENCY CO., LTD. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report having sold a medium entry of cattle and pigs at the Levin yards on Tuesday, 4th inst. Quotations: — Cattle. —Light fat cows £5 15s to ,vfi fis, forward condition cows £4 to £4 15s, store cows £3 to £3 15s, cows >vii,h calves £6 ss, coloured small yearling steers £3 5s to £4, heifers r.w.b., £5 12s fid, yearling Jersey heifers £4 2s fid to £4 Ids, cull dairy eevvs £5 to £B, good Jersey bulls £lO to £lO 10s, potter bulls £3 10s to £4 15s. Pigs.—Heavy porkers £2 15s to £2 18s, medium porkers £2 5s to £2 12s, light and inferior sorts £l 16s to £2 2s, good stores 275. to 335, medium stores 20s to 245, slips 14s to 18s, good weaners 20s to 22s fid.
