MILLINERY PROVERBS
The seeing eye has returned - to fashion—but not the hearing ear. . A curved line now seems to be -the smartest path between two eyebrows, and while a large proportion of new hats are made with the line at the front raised enough to reveal a patch of forehead and a good glimpse of at least one eyq, almost all hats are cut or draped quite low over the ears: Uneasy rests the bead that wears a skull eap, unless the hair is still worn short, and the fact that there is as yet less tendency toward long hair in Paris than in this country accounts for the fact that the French milliners are still making their hats with very close-fitting crowns—crowns that really require a close hair cut. All is'not gold that glitters, for the French modistes are using nickle ornaments to a great extent, and s there is still considerable call for the flat ornaments of silver.
