CHAPTER OF ACCIDENTS.

Yesterday morning, while Mr Pat Cole and Messrs Wood, sen., and War- I man were handling some young horses in the railway station yards, one of the animals lashed out and kicked Mr Cole in the face inflicting a nasty cut over his eye. . He was rendered miconscious for a short time. Fortunately the horse was unshod, otherwise his injuries may have been very serious. After receiving medical attention he was able to proceed to his home. On Saturday evening Mr E. J. S Spencer. triuped oyer the shaft. of a vehicle in his backyard and in falling struck his chest on the body of the vehicle, with the result that yesterday he was s-oufined to his bed. Mr W. H. Gunning, who has recent- | ly been able to get about after his illness, had the misfortune on Saturday [to stumble and fall on the edge of a bath. He .'complained afterwards of a pain in his side and on being examined by the doctor it was fouud that he had broken a rib. All will be sorry to learn of Mr Gunning's mishap . and -.will join• in wishing him a speedy recovery. Mr' Polglase, of Vance Street, met with an accident in a very simple manner on Saturday. As he was passing through his gate,' it swung back suddenly, striking him, fracturing two of his ribs. ...

At Midday'yesterday two motor cars collided at the corner of the Main Road and Kingston road. One driven by Mr r Johansen, of Miranui, was crossing the road when the other, which was coming from .the north, c6l; iided with it. Mr Johansoii 's car had its chassis badly twisted and a wlied broken off, the other car escaping with" a few ' scratches. Neither occupants of the car were injured.
