SUDDEN DEATH.

MR. JAS. RICHARDSON

it is with sincere regret wo have to announce the death of Mr Jas. Richardson, which occurred suddenly at his residence on Sunday at about 5.30 p.m. Mr Richardson, who had been in illhealth for some time, was engaged in removing a heifer into a paddock adjoining his house, when he apparently had a heart attack. His son, who was near by, noticed him fall and immediately went to his assistance, but on reaching him found that he had expired. He then went for help and Dr.' Maekereth was sent, for, but oil the arrival of the, latter he could only pronoujuee life 'to be < f exjtinet. J,n jthe morning he had visited the reservoir in company with other members of the Council and Avas then apparently well. Deceased, who was born at Upper Hiitt fifty-two years ago, was a well-known farmer, in the district and a very old resident of Shannon, having arrived here with his parents, the late Mr and Mrs A. M. Richardson, as a boy in 1889. On reaching young manhood he became a butcher and for some years was in business as a butcher in'Shaiinon, but during the past ten years he has been dairy farming on his present property. In public life the deceased had always taken an active part. At the time of his death he was a member of the Shannon Borough Council, having been a member of that body, with the exception of one term, since its inception in 1917. He was also the district’s representative on tlie Mana-watu-Oroua River Board for the past two years. He was a trustee of the Buckley Drainage Board from 1915 to 1927, and some years ago was a committeeman and chairman of the Shannon School Committee. He leaves a widow, two sons (Laurie and Sid) and one daughter—Mrs-G. MeSaveney, who will have the deepest sympathy of a wide circle of friends in the sudden and irreparable loss that- has befallen them.
