S. Spencer), in presenting the report and balance sheet, stated that during the year the work of the society had increased considerably, much to the satisfaction of Jie committee. Nurse Norris has been minting Shannon once a week for nvelvo" months, from Levin, and much credit was duo to her for the interest she had taken in the branch. The following were the figures for the year ending March 31st, 1928:—Nurse's visits to Shannon, ">0: nurse's visits to homes, 123; aduiti' visits'to rooms 416; children's visics to rooms, 406; totals, 1928, 822; and ..- 762; an increase of CO. The financial position was most satisfactory, the branch having a credit balance of £6 15s, and £122 8s on fixed deposit, and assets to the value ! of £2o.—Adopted. | PRESIDENT'S REPORT.
The following report was submitted by the president (Mrs Clifford Jones): "I have very much pleasure in adding a few words regarding the progress made by the Shannon branch of the Plunket* Society since the last annual meeting. You have heard the general report as read by our secretary, and that really covers the work of this branch for the past twelve months. The real value of Plunket work in Shannon can be best judged on Nurse. Norris's report. Those figures speak for themselves. Our highest number, 140 for the month of May, is wonderfully good for a town of this size. Although nothing very special has occurred, the work has been carried on quietly, week after week, with such gratifying results that the existence of .'» branch is fully justified. Much depends on the nurse in charge, and in . having the services of Nurse Norris the Society is indeed fortunate. It is only by having one thoroughly competent in charge at the rooms that we have gained the confidence of mothers and the interest of the public. There is still room for improvement as regards our membership, but we hope shortly to considerably increase same. Within the last six months we have farewelled 1 Mr and Mrs Button and Mr and Mrs Johnstone,v all of whom were keen workers. -Mr Burns also left this diiI trict recently. He too was always willing to assist whenever possible. To ' the vice-presidents, committee, , and ! secretary I tender my grateful thanks for their support and assistance during the past year.
