SHANNON CHORAL SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING.

The above meeting was held last evening. Mr Morgan presiding over a good attendance of members. The report and balance sheet was presented which showed that the Society commenced the past season with a debit balance, finishing up with a credit balance of £2 5s sd. This credit balance was largely due to two factors, viz., the number of honorary members enrolled and to the ladies who had so willingly assisted with shop days, which had enabled the Society to engage the leading soloists of the Dbmiuion. Mr Morgan congratulated the secretary on the. very able manner in which he had placed the balance sheet before the meeting and he was deserving of the hearty thanks of members for his services and trouble. Mr Morgan said he was delighted to be a member of such a society, and he had never been connected with any such body which had worked so harmoniously together and he believed it had a big future before it. In the assets of the Society there was a credit balance of ov_er £23, the assets consisting of music, besides hiring copies. They had been, arble to lend music to sister societies. ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

The following are the officers for the coming season: —President, Mr A. H. Morgan; secretary and treasurer, Mr E. T. Moody (pro tem.); conductor, Mr Howard Andrew; vice-presidents, Mr Jas. Aim and J. Smith, sen.; accompaniste, Mrs Clifford Jones; librarian, Mr H. Smith. All the executive positions are honorary. GENERAL. The president and conductor both referred to the time and trouble taken by Mrs Clifford Jones, stating that the Society were very fortunate in having her as accompanistc. It was decided to hold a social in about a fortnight's time when the season commences. The president stated that the Society was indebted to the' local press for assistance given. . _ The meeting was most enthusiastic and several new members were elected. The conductor stated the Society was shois of male voices.
