HOBSON SHIELD SPORTS.

TROPHY AGAIN WON BY FOXTON SCHOOL. ,t■ : - The second annual contest for the Hobson Shield, presented by the Mayor of Levin for the premiership in school sports in the district, was held on the . Levin Park Domain on Saturday afternoon, in the presence of a good number of spectators. The weather was capital, being neither too warm nor too cold. Four schools were represented in the competitions—-namely, Levin District High School, Levin Convent School, Foxton District High School, and Shannon State School. As on the first occasion, the trophy was won by Fox on, -whose aggregate of points was well ahead of those of the other competing schools. The points were allotted in the separate events in the proportions of five for first, three for second, and two for third. Foxton s total was 91; Levin was second with M, Shannon was a close third with 62, and Convent scored 24, having a smaller representation than the others. The Shield was handed to Mr F. Mason, headmaster of the Foxton School, by the Mayor (Mr Hobson),, who heartily . congratulated the team on having won it for the second time in. succession. Mr R. J. Foss, head- , master of fhe Levin school, also complimented the Vinners, and Mr Mason made a fitting acknowledgment. Rousing cheers'were exchanged between, the unsuccessful competitors and tho winners, and cheers were also given for the Mayor as donor of the Shield. i Following are the,, results of the events: — , 50 Yards, girls under 10:—P.
