RECORD SHIPMENT OF STUD CATTLE.

FOE SYDNEY BOYAI SHOW.

New Zealand breeders of stud beef cattle—Shorthorns, Herefords and Aberdeen Angus—will be very strongly represented at the Royal Easter Show at Sydney, N.S.W., as a record shipment* has just been made pf the breeds named. Experts state that, included arc some cattle of more than usual merit, which, if they land in good order, should be capable of winning honours m the various classes in which they will compete. The great bulk of the shipment; however, which- comprises 56 head, is being shipped-primarily to participate in the sales of stud beef cattle which are a' feature of the Royal Shows in Australia.

It is anticipated that the pick of the New Zealand cattle will meet with a very keen sale’, and it,is anticipated that the sales generally will be the best for' some years, as conditions throughout New South Wales and Queensland ‘are abnormally good. The largest shipper is Mr L. White, of Ralcaia, who has sent forward 30 Short horn's, of which 3 are stud bulls ,aud the balance stud cows and heifers. Mr D., Buchanan, of Tepurupuru, Mas-tc-rton, Will be represented by; three Shorthorns, including the very.fine two-year-old,' Maungaraki Duke 132nd, by Bushey Park Pure Gold, from Cano bridge Duchess 34th, .which has been undefeated this season, and was reserve champion at the Hawkes Bay Show in the spring. Sir Douglas McLean,i of Maraekakaho, Hastings, will be represented by. three well-bred yearling bulls which were not shown [his season, and Mr J. A. Johnstone, of Bushey.Park, Palmerston South, will be represented by four: bulls of the same breed, .including’ljjs fine red bull, Bushey Park Diamond Marquis, by Rothiebfisbane Diamond (imp), from Bushey Park 1 Tea Rose (imp), which was second’ in. his class at the-Royal Show. Thiscomprises the Shorthorn exhibit from the Dominion.

f ‘ Mr Jas. McKenzie, of Maungahina, Masterton; has also sent across three ‘high-class Hereford buffs, all of which have been prize-winners during the past season. In addition to' these 'shipments on owner’s account, Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., advise having sh : pped eleven head of Aberdeen Angus cattle purchased in New Zealand recently by Mr Gordon Munro, of Bingara, New, South Wales., Four of these are to be exhibited at the Royal Show by Mr. Munro, and these comprise tvfo females selected from the well-known herd of Mr W. A. McFarlane, -Waiterenui; Hastings, and an equal number from the By well herd of. Mr. Jas. Effingham; Ormondville'. Included is Mr. Effingham’s chanipion cow at the. recent Dannevirke Show? Celandine of Glenelg, by Quality o Maisemore (imp), and her -prize-win uihg calf by Victor,of Raricliie (imp). The yearling bull by Victor of Ranchi* (imp), froniiEclypta of Glenelg, was a; so'secured from Miv Effingham. Thy females from Mr McFariane’s hern to be exhibited are the two-year-on heifer; Koran of Waiterenui, by Fria of Waiterenui from Edina of Waiterenui, and the yearling heifer by Ivan hoe of Waitfe’renui from Oyster of Ben. Lomond. These four well bred ana typical representatives of the breeu should .worthily uphold the reputation of the Dominion at the coming Roya' Show'. Six well bred heifers bred b, 1 Mr W. T. May, Matapihi, Hasting s ', were also shipped to Mr Munro at tin same time. These are a very high! class lot and are sired by Lead of Be> Lomond, a noted son of the champion cow, Helen of Ben Lomond, and' b' General of Ben Lomond from selected females representing families develop ed in the extensive herd of Mr A. B Williams, of Gisborne. Mr Munro se cured his foundation cattle in .New Zealand some years ago, and he report that the Aberdeen Angus' breed i making such solid progress in Neu South Wales and Queensland that h felt called upon to further extend hi? herd by additional importations from New Zealand.

Messrs Wright Stephenson and Cc Ltd., also shipped at the same time to a New South Wales breeder, the Royal Show yearling Short horn bull, Bashey Park Diamond But terfly, ■ by •fßothiebrisbane Diamond (imp) fron/ Naemoor, Butterfly 2nd, bred by. Mr J. A. Johnstone, of Bush ey Park,' which , was sold recently at a high price.' This is a particularly high-class representative of the breed.
