MANGAORE SUNDAY SCHOOL.
ANNUAL PRESENTATION OF PRIZES.
The annual presentation of prizes of the Mangaore Sunday School was held last Sunday, at Mangaore, when the Rev. A. J. Fariiell addressed the children and later made the presentations.
During the past year the Sunday School lost the services of Mr W. N. Wood, who had been transferred to Wellington. Mr Fariiell spoke of Mr Wood’s keenness and the sincerity of the work that this teacher has carried out. It was due to his work and ability that the Sunday School had been carried on, and he (Mr Fariiell) could not. speak highly enough of the services rendered. A handsome Bible had been sent to Mr Wood as a mark-of appieciat.ion from scholars,-parents and present teachers, and a message of thanks from Mr Wood was conveyed'last Sunday to the children. The prizes were awarded on attendance,' the number of Sundays being 46. The following is the prize list: — Senior Boys.-—lst (equal) Selwyn Astwood and John Burgis 39; 2nd. Raymond Burgis, 35; 3rd) Glyn Owen. Senior Girls.—lst, Joyce Astwood, 46 (full marks, first of all seniors); 2nd, Jean McConnell, 42; 3rd, Joyce Blackwood, 41; 4th, Nancy Burgis, 39; Betty Blackwood, Jean Stock, Annie Roberts, Cissie Snelling, Margaret Boberts, Everel Chandler, Millie Coates, Freda Robinson.
Junior Boys.—lst, Doxter Elvines, 42; 2nd, Floy’d Elvines, 41; 3rd, Keith Astwood, 38; 4th, > Bay Elliott; Sonny Coleman, Wilker Surrklge, Lionel CoattSJunior Girls.—lst, Marie Astwood, 45 (first junior); 2nd, Eunice Surridge, 44; 3rd, Betty Stock, 34; 4th, Olive Roberts, 23; Joan Gregory, Elsie Coleman, Auriel Chandler, Joan Astwood, Joan Coates, Norma Hewitt, Shirley King. , r At the close of the presentation, MiPorter thanked Mr Farnell, on behalf of the scholars, for his unfailing interest in their Sunday School and for coming out that afternoon.
