SHANNON FOOTBALL CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING.

The above meeting .was held in the C.'ounc.l Chambers on Wednesday even-

ing, when about 40 members were present. The President (Mr Brann) presided. Prior to commencing the business the President stated that since the last annual meeting, the Club had lost by death one of its oldest and most popular members, in Mr Rewi Moynihan, and he asked those present: to stand and observe one minute’s silcuee as a mark of respect to his memory. The president said that, owing to'the secretary being laid .aside by illness, they had been unable to find the book , containing the minutes of the last annual meeting. Without the minutes it was hard to give a review of the season’s work. During the past season, lie said, the Club’s most- notable was the winning of the Nash Cup. They had also had the privilege of getting a greater number of players in the representative matches than any other Club in thei Union, while the captain of the winners of the Dewar Cup was Mr C. Hunt. Taken all round, he thought the Club could be congratulated on having a satisfac* tory season. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £lO 16s 6d at the commencement of the season. The. receipts during were £6l 15s Hd, and the expenditure £49 0s 6d, outstanding accounts £1 6s, leaving a credit balance on the year’s working of £ll 9s sd. ‘ ELECTION op ofpicees. The following officers for the ensuing year were elected:—-Patron, Mr T. Dalzell; president, Mr A. Birehall; vice-presidents, Messrs A. Hunt, E. Butt, J. Bo a cli, Jhing Lee, C. C. Franks, E. Dickhoff, W..H. Gunning, Howard Andrew, C. Young,. W. McLennan, Jones, A. Seifert, G. Mitchell, Jas. Curran, jun,, Jas. Curran, sen., A. Beid, J. Hennessey, C. H. Speirs, W. and T. Moynihan, A. E. Hyde, J. A. Wilkinson, 11. Hook, B. Hill, C. Gray, T. King, L. F. Jones, and 11. Murdoch; management committee, Messrs A. Biro hall, M. Coyle, J. Gray, A. Richards, H. Murdoch, T. Dalzell, W. Easton, F. Wilson; delegates to Horowhenua Union, Messrs A. 11. Richards,. W. Moynihan, Johansen, G. Mitchell, A. Birchall, and J. Gray; vice-president to Union, Mr. \V. Moynihan; selectors—seniors, Mr JoKanson and the captain; juniors, Messrs M. Coyle and F. Wilson; thirds, to be appointed later; auditor, Mr B. J. Brann; secretary, Mr G. Mitchell; treasurer, Mr W. Moynihan; . delegates to Union, Messrs A. H. Richards and G. Mitchell. GENERAL. A motion that the, Clulr’s colours be changed was strongly opposed, and an amendment by Mr W. Mpyniljan that .they remain as before, viz.’, maroon, was carried.

The matter of free jerseys for the senior team met with opposition from the members of the lower grade teams, it being pointed out that senior players were better able to buy their own jerseys than those playing in the lower grades. Mr F. Wilson recommended that only three spare jerseys be .provided for each team. Finally, it was agreed to. leave the matter to the Management Committee, to do what is best in the interests of the Club.

A motioii by Mr Birehall was carried “That it be an instruction to the delegate to the Union to bring forward the question of admitting injured .members free to all matches in the Un'ion. ”

The members’ subscriptions for the coming season were fixed as follows: Senior ss, junior ss, thirds 2s 6d —plus 2s 6d insurance. -

It was decided that the captains of the different grades be responsible for the balls. %

Mr Birchall said a wprd of praise was due,, to the retiring president (Mr Brann) for the interest he had. taken in the Club during the'past two years, and he moved that a vote of thanks be accorded Kim, which was. carried by acclamation.

A hearty vote of thanks was "accorded to all who had helped the Club financially and otherwise last year, to the coaches of the different grades, and the Press. * In conclusion, the president expressed' the wish that- the Club would have a successful season and again wih the Nash Cup. ■ ' ,
