KAWIU ROAD FLOOD-WATER PREVENTION.

COUNTY COUNCIL APPROVES COST. Advice was received by the Horowhenua County Council from the Levin Borough Council, on Saturday, that the drain, to take flood-water from the vicinity of Kawiu Road and Oxford Street had been completed, at a total cost of £lB2 5s 9d. The Borough Council asked for a cheque for £SO, the County’s contribution as agreed upon at a conference held on November 25th last. Cr. Catley stated that the work had been carred out close to the estimate, which was £180; and a good job had been made of it. The chairman said that, if possible the Council would pay its share before March 31st.

Cr. McLeavey: It was a recognised thing that it was to come on next year’s estimates. We told them that. It was resolved that payment be made as soon as funds permit.
