TWINE ON HATS

’ Plain little pull-on hats of felt seem i here to stay, and in spite of the efi forts of dress and millinery designers, | and of those who create the fashions, they will not be ousted from popular favi£r. In themselves they are so plain and uniform that milliners are inventing all kinds of out of the way trimmings to give them originality. An• innovation sponsored in Paris is coloured twine which is used also on hats of satin and velvet. Multi-col-oured twine is used like thread to form designs on plain hats, and has the ’ advantage Of being thicker and more conspicuous than thread, while lying close and flat to the hat and not disturbing its lines. Multi-coloured twine is popular for black hats and on coloured hats it is shaded to match * tone.
