ADDITIONAL HIGHWAYS.

LEVIN-HOKIO BEACH ROAD INCLUDED.

Netiiicabcii was received by the Horowlienua County Council on Saturday, finm the District Engineer ' of Public Works, that the following roads had been recommended to the Minister by the Highways Boards for declaration as Main Highways: — Tipper Ilutt-Waikanae, 60 chains. Waikanae-Waimeha, 2 miles 60 chains. Waiohanga-Te Iloro, 5 miles 20 chain.s. Levin-Hokio Road, 6 miles. Gazette notices would be issued shortly, and maintenance would be subsidised from the date of gazetting. The chairman stated that 23 miles of the Upper Ilutt-Waikanae Road was in the llutt County, three miles of it was boundary road, and there was 60 chains in the Horowlienua County. This was not a road that was recommended to the Board by himself, but by the liutt County Council. The recommendation was a very necessary one, and rvould give Ibis County some relief on the •board road. Cr. MeLcnvey remarked that the information was very satisfactory. The chairman said he supposed that the Leyiu-Hokio was the most expensive road, but the Council should be able to keep it decently maintained now. C'r. K lsby:' I think we should applied for a few more. The Chairman: That can always be done. The letter was received.
