VEN. BEDE'S SUNDAY SCHOOL.
The Anglican Sunday School held its annual picnic on Saturday in the Vicarage grounds. The weather was perfect and the children all had a very happy time.
Daring the afternoon a presentation of a leather handbag was made to Mrs Drake from members of the Ladies’ Guild,-and of a leather bound teacher’s Bible -from the Sunday School, with both of which organisations Mrs Drake has been connected for a. very long time. ‘ ‘
The scholars of the Mangaore Sunday School also took this opportunity of presenting a leather bound teacher’s Bible to Mr Horace Wood, who was superintendent there from the time of its inception until his departure for Wellington recently. The Sunday School prizes were presented during the course of the'afternoon. The prize winners were: — GIRLS. Class I. —Daisy Lister, 342 marks, 1; Murial Sands, 297 marks, 2; Marjorie Eagle, 28S, 3. Class XL—Katie McEwcn, 371, top marks of school, 1; Kathleen Eagle, 28(5, 2; Beryl Haley, 285, 3. Class 111.—Betty Eagle, 326, 1; Ngaire l’ayne, 290, 2; Lily Wiggins, 257, 3. Class IV—lrene Sands, 294, 1; Phoebe Small, 267, 2; Joyce Merwood, 260, 3. Class V. —Joyce Elwood, 340, 1; Doris Satherley, 31.9, 2; Maisie Lister, 223, 3. Class Vl.—Dorothy Exton 1, Grctehcn Tippler 2, Joan Booker 3. Knuleigarten. —Maureen King 1, Elsie Eagle 2, Jocelyn Bass 3. Each other member of the kindergarten class received a small book. BOYS. Class lll.—Robert Brann 1, George Exton 2, Selwyn Elwood 3. Kindergarten—Rhys Jenkins 1, Trevor King 2, Noel-Davis 3. Other small' boys in the kindergarten each received a book.
The special progress prize donated by Messrs Bonnet and Sons, of Palmerston North, was awarded to Phyllis Buttcrworth for the greatest individual progress during the' year. ATTENDANCE PRIZES.

Katie McEwen and Reban Bresnehan, as top girl and boy respectii cl) of the Sunday School, were given beautifully bound copies of “The Story of the Bible.” * The picnic concluded with the distribution of fruit and sweets, and the children returned home, tired but happy, at 6 p.m. During the afternoon quite a number of parents and friends visited the picnic grounds.
