DEAN FITCHETT * S INCUMBENCY. Dean Fitchett, of All Saints' Church, delivered his first sermon there as vicar of the parish on the first Sunday iir February, 1879, so that with yesterday's service lie entered upon the fiftieth year of his incumbency. Although he lias resigned from the charge he is carrying on the work until the arrival of the new incumbent who is expected to reach the Dominion about August. No other clergyman in Dunedin now has had such a term of active duty as nearly half- a century. Dean Fitchett's appointment dates from the year in which Rev. . Rutherford Waddell, who retired recently, took charge at St. Andrew's.
